3. LION IN THE HOUSE

 

Children's Project on Palliative/Hospice Services (ChiPPS) announces a partnership between NHPCO and ITVS, providing guidance and support, including information regarding end-of-life care to the Lion in the House Project.

 

Lion in the House is an independent film, coming to Independent Lens
on PBS channels June 21 and 22, 2006. Lion in the House offers an unprecedented look at the cancer journeys of five young people and their families over a six-year period. Many pediatric hospice and palliative care providers are already developing local activities in their communities to supplement this two-day television event.

4. NEW AAHPM COURSES OFFERENCE IN AUGUST

 

The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine will host two important courses entitled "Current Concepts in Palliative Care: Update and Review Course" and "Hospice Medical Director Course." These courses will be held on August 17-19, 2006, at the Aladdin Resort& Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

6. TRAINING PROGRAM FOR ACADEMIC MEDICAL CENTERS

 

Building Academic Palliative Care is a new in-depth training program developed by three academic Palliative Care Leadership Centers (PCLC) firmly established in palliative care research, education and clinical service - Medical College of Wisconsin, University of California, San Francisco and Virginia Commonwealth University.
