Manager Palliative Care

Large multi campus tertiary care center has opening for an experienced Manager of  Palliative Care to provide world class leadership, accountability, direction and management of all activities of the multi specialty group practice, Nursing Home Team and On call team.

 

This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of an exciting new comprehensive approach shifting the philosophy away from functional silos to a multi-specialty group practice focused on managing the health of a community.  You will surround your patients with all resources available regardless of insurance benefits.  Your collaborative teams will include RNs, LPN’s, PT, OT, SLP, Social Workers, Home Health Aides, Chaplin, Pharmacy and Volunteers.

 

This highly visible management position requires strong skills in the following areas: collaboration, leadership, quality improvement, financial management (including knowledge of hospital based reimbursement systems), interpersonal and communication skills, personnel development, presentation skills, and regulatory compliance.  The successful candidate must have a proven ability in customer and employee relations and creative problem solving.  Must be willing to challenge established ways, be innovative and entrepreneurial.

 

Responsibilities include:

           Supervision and coordination of the palliative care program and end of life services as well as providing nursing consultation involving multiple functions 

           Assuring appropriate documentation for compliance with agency and statutory guidelines

           Development and oversight of the palliative care program budget 

           Performance evaluation of assigned staff

           Develops, organizes, manages, and evaluates the department’s performance against established requirements

           Functions include, but are not limited to, providing consultation and information regarding end of life care; coordinating hospice and palliative care services for hospital, home and skilled nursing facility patients and families;

           Serving as a clinical/administrative resource and educator for physicians, hospital staff, patients, and families on hospice and palliative care issues. 

 

Requirements:

Master’s Degree

Palliative Care Certification Preferred

5 years leadership experience

Demonstrated Ability to communicate a compelling and inspired vision

Can maneuver through complex political situations effectively

Relates well to all kinds of people, up, down, and sideways, inside and outside the organization

Demonstrates real empathy with the joys and pains of others

Can effectively cope with change
