"Teaching Residents to Teach: The Impact of a Multi-Disciplinary

Longitudinal Curriculum to Improve Teaching Skills"

 

Residents received instruction on teaching and leadership skills during a four-month longitudinal teaching course.

Participants completed a validated pre-post self-assessment inventory for teaching and a teaching self-efficacy survey.

Results: Participants' self-rated teaching skills significantly increased in all categories of the self-assessment inventory for teaching.

"A Focus Group Study of Medial Students’ Views of an

Integrated Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM)

Curriculum: Students Teaching Teachers

 

Students agreed that goals of the CAM curriculum should center on awareness of patient use, evidence and information relevant to clinical practice. The majority did not intend to practice CAM modalities but valued skills to assess them. Patient-centeredness was recognized.

4. FREE INTERACTIVE WEB MedEdPORTAL TRAINING

 

MedEdPORTAL, launched by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), offers peer reviewed dissemination Of medical education teaching resources, while also providing a venue for medical educators and faculty to publish their successful medical education materials in a scholarly peer-reviewed forum. www.aamc.org/mededportal

 

Sign up for a 30-minute interactive web training Workshop/overview of the MedEdPORTAL system and examples of various types of materials available for free to educators and students around the globe.

 

Participants will learn about the submission and peer review processes as well as the criteria used to evaluate the scholarship of published resources.

5. MedEdPORTAL POLICY CHANGE

 

Starting on November 19, 2007 MedEdPORTAL staff began the process of disseminating published resources that are not currently available via the web. In the past users were required to contact authors to obtain MedEdPORTAL publications that were not web based.

 

Under the new policy users complete an online web form and MedEdPORTAL staff will send out the published resource via email or via the postal service within one business day (excluding US holidays and weekends).
