4. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - CAPC FUNDING

 

Center to Advance Palliative Care & Milbank Foundation for Rehabilitation will award teams from five academic medical centers the opportunity to train at a Palliative Care Leadership Centers (PCLC) site of their choice and receive a full year of mentoring by PCLC expert faculty.

The Milbank Foundation for Rehabilitation is funding this initiative to enhance palliative care education at medical school--affiliated teaching hospitals through the development of clinical palliative care programs.

 

Training sites for Building Academic Palliative Care are:

• Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), Milwaukee, WI • University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) • Virginia Commonwealth University, Massey Cancer Center, Richmond, VA

6. LCME HEARING ON ACCREDITATION STANDARDA IN DIVERSITY

 

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) will hold a hearing for public comment on proposed changes in accreditation standards relating to diversity. The proposed changes include replacing existing standards on student diversity and faculty diversity with a new standard and annotation to be located in the "Institutional Setting" section of "Functions and Structure of a Medical School," the LCME's accreditation standards document. The hearing will take place during the AAMC's annual meeting, on Nov. 6, from 1:00-2:30PM at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. 8. JUNIOR FACULTY LEADERSHIP RETREAT

 

Led by the Palliative Medicine Leadership Forum February 27-March 1, 2007 Boston, MA

 

Junior palliative medicine faculty who are interested in training to be academic leaders are encouraged to apply for this first leadership retreat. Junior faculty participants will interact closely with both junior faculty colleagues, and the 20-30 senior faculty leaders

who will be holding their annual retreat.

 

Up to 16 junior faculty will be chosen for this 2 ½ day meeting (welcome reception/dinner on February 27th).

Meals will be provided, using funds from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Participants’ departments are expected to pay travel and room fees. For eligibility criteria and application materials, contact Venus Watson Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
