Title: Palliative Care Fellowship Evaluation Package

Author(s): David E. Weissman; Bruce Himelstein; Linda Blust; Marcos Montagnini; and Chad Farmer

This package was designed to assist Palliative Care Fellowship programs in their evaluation of residents. The package includes eight different tools - global rating forms, 360-degree evaluation, chart audit tools, a communication skills exercise, role play exercises, and evaluation forms for patients to complete and for fellows to evaluate the faculty and their program.

Reviewers were extremely enthusiastic about the package. One wrote, "An excellent resource for both established and developing fellowships...a model for evaluating trainees in other disciplines". Another stated, "This is a timely accumulation of evaluation tools...These tools will be welcomed by developing Palliative Care Fellowship programs and may result in consensus building regarding standards and methods of fellowship evaluation."
