1. What are the dates of the 2007 Harvard Medical School Program in Palliative Care Education and Practice (PCEP) course?

The dates for this intensive two-session (Spring - Fall) course for medical and nursing educators are April 17-24, 2007 and November 7- 13, 2007.

NOTE: A space in the 2007 sessions will be reserved for those awardees who commit to attending in 2007 when they receive notification that they are accepted into the program.

2. What will be included in the didactic core curriculum you will provide?

A standardized, didactic, on-line, modular curriculum, of approximately 15 hours will be available for schools to use. The curriculum can be used as student self-study material, or the basis for classroom didactic/small group teaching. Schools are not mandated to provide all 15 hours and they are not mandated to use this curriculum. Schools will be provided with links to other on-line curriculum to supplant or supplement the standardized curriculum.

3. Is the experiential component part of the mandatory or only elective piece of the program?

An experiential component is mandated for both the required and elective experiences.

Student time commitment can vary. Currently, schools offering experiential training for all students include anywhere from ½ - 5 days of direct patient care exposure in hospice or palliative care settings. Elective experiences currently range from 1-4 weeks.
