The American Geriatrics Society announced the 2003 release of "Geriatrics at Your Fingertips", now in its fifth edition. Updated annually, this book contains the most current, state-of-the-art information on caring for older adults. A "Brief Pain Inventory" has been added to the assessment tools. The chapter on pain includes the latest information from the 2002 AGS clinical practice guideline "The Management of Pain in Older Persons." The medication tables provide up-to-date drug information for appropriate prescribing and include special caveats and cautions to be observed when using medications in older persons. The Amedican Association for Cancer Education's Palliative Care Education section has been updated to include a Section summary from the 2001 AACE meetings (Los Angeles), which includes the project for 2002.
